After the Session: Your Photos, Prints, and Albums
The session is done and you are wondering what comes next. Here is exactly what to expect from the moment we wrap up to the moment your prints are on the wall.
What Happens After We Wrap Up
When we finish shooting, I head home and immediately back up everything to two separate drives. Losing photos is not an option, and I treat your images like they are irreplaceable, because they are.
Over the next day or two, I go through every image from the session. A typical family session might produce 400 to 600 raw frames. I cull that down to the strongest images: the ones with the best expressions, the best light, the best compositions. No duplicates, no closed eyes, no blurry misses.
Then the editing begins. Every delivered image gets individual attention. I am not running batch filters. I adjust exposure, color, contrast, and tone for each photo based on the light and mood of that specific moment. My editing style leans natural and warm. You will look like you, just in really good light.
Turnaround Times
Here is what to expect for different session types:
- Family and portrait sessions: Two weeks or less. Most galleries go out within 10 days.
- Sports action coverage: 24 to 48 hours. I know parents want to see the photos while the game is still fresh, so I prioritize fast delivery for sports.
- Branding and business sessions: Two to three weeks, depending on the scope. Larger shot lists take more editing time.
- Events and tournaments: Three to five days for full event coverage.
If you need images faster for a specific deadline (a holiday card order, a business launch, a social media post), let me know when we book. I can usually accommodate rush delivery with some advance notice.
Your Online Gallery
When your photos are ready, I will send you a link to your private online gallery. Here is what you can do with it:
- View and download all your edited images in high resolution
- Share the gallery link with family members, grandparents, or anyone else who wants to see the photos
- Mark favorites to help you narrow down selections for prints or albums
- Order prints, canvases, and products directly through the gallery's built-in print shop
Your gallery stays active for at least 60 days. After that, I keep your edited files in my archive for a year. If you need to re-download something later, just ask.
Picking Your Favorites
This is the part where most people get stuck. You open the gallery, love a bunch of photos, and cannot decide which ones to print. Here is my advice:
First pass: go with your gut. Scroll through the gallery and favorite everything that makes you feel something. Do not think about it too hard. Do not worry about which wall they will go on. Just pick the ones that stop you.
Second pass: look for variety. You probably want a mix of close-ups, wide shots, candid moments, and a few where everyone is looking at the camera. If you have five favorites that are all the same pose from slightly different angles, narrow it down to the strongest one.
Third pass: think about where they are going. If you want a large print above the couch, pick a wider composition. For desk frames, close-ups and detail shots work well. For social media, candid moments tend to get the most engagement.
If you are still stuck, I am happy to help. Send me your shortlist and I will give you my honest recommendation.
Print Options
Your online gallery connects to a professional print lab, which means the quality is significantly better than drugstore prints or online services. Here is what is available:
- Standard prints: 4x6 through 30x40, on professional photo paper with a range of finish options (matte, lustre, glossy)
- Canvas wraps: Gallery-wrapped canvas prints in a range of sizes, ready to hang
- Metal prints: High-definition images printed on aluminum, vivid colors, modern look, great for sports action shots
- Framed prints: Finished and framed, ready to put on the wall the day they arrive
Everything ships directly to your door. Print quality matters to me, and I have tested these labs extensively. The colors match what you see in your gallery.
Albums
I offer custom-designed photo albums for families, events, and branding clients. These are not the photo books you order from an app. They are lay-flat, thick-page, professionally bound albums designed by me.
Here is how the album process works:
- You tell me you want an album (at booking or after you see your gallery)
- I design a layout using your best images and send you a digital proof
- You review it, request any changes, and approve the final version
- The album ships to you in about three to four weeks
Albums make great gifts. I have had grandparents cry opening them. A printed album sitting on your coffee table gets picked up and looked at over and over in a way that a phone gallery never does.
Social Media and Usage Rights
You have full personal use rights to every image I deliver. That means you can:
- Post on Instagram, Facebook, or any social platform
- Use them for holiday cards, graduation announcements, or personal projects
- Print them at any lab you choose (though my gallery lab will give you the best color match)
- Share them with family and friends
For business and branding clients, your usage rights cover your business marketing as well: website, social media, print materials, and advertising.
What I ask in return: Please do not add heavy filters or dramatic edits to the images. I spent time getting the color and tone right, and a heavy Instagram filter on top of my editing changes the look significantly. And when you share, a tag (@viningcreativephoto) is always appreciated. It is the best way for new clients to find me.
Wall Art Sizing Guide
One question I get a lot: "What size should I print?" Here is a simple reference:
- 8x10 or 11x14: Good for shelves, desks, and small wall spaces
- 16x20: A solid medium wall piece, works in hallways and bedrooms
- 20x30 or 24x36: Statement pieces for living rooms, above a couch or mantle
- 30x40 or larger: For big walls and spaces where you want the photo to be the focal point
When in doubt, go bigger than you think. People almost always wish they had ordered a larger print. A 20x30 on a large wall looks small. A 30x40 feels right.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get my photos back?
Portrait and family sessions are delivered within two weeks, usually sooner. Sports action coverage galleries go up within 48 hours of the game or event. Larger projects like branding sessions or multi-game tournaments may take a bit longer depending on the volume. I will give you a specific timeline when we wrap up your session.
How do I order prints?
Your online gallery includes a built-in print shop with options for standard prints, canvas wraps, metal prints, and albums. You can order directly from the gallery and everything ships to your door. If you want something custom, like a large wall piece or a specific frame, reach out and I will help you get exactly what you need.
Can I share my photos on social media?
Yes, absolutely. You have full personal use rights to every image in your gallery. Post them wherever you like. All I ask is that you do not apply heavy filters that alter the editing, and that you tag me (@viningcreativephoto) when you share. It helps people find me and I love seeing where your photos end up.
