Superior Youth Sports Photographer

Superior's youth sports scene is tight-knit and competitive. I shoot at fields and courts across town, capturing the real moments that parents miss when they are watching from the sidelines.

Youth Sports Photography in Superior

I started shooting youth sports in Superior after a family I'd worked with in Boulder told me their kid's soccer team played at Community Park. I showed up, shot the game, and realized how much good athletic action was happening in this town. Now I'm there regularly, covering games, tournaments, and team events at fields throughout the area.

Superior may be smaller than Boulder or Broomfield, but the youth sports programs here are strong. The fields at Superior Elementary and Eldorado K-8 host games and practices for soccer, flag football, and lacrosse. Community Park has basketball courts and open fields that see action from spring through fall. And because Superior sits right between Boulder and Broomfield, a lot of club teams from the area end up playing here.

How I Shoot Game Action

Sports photography is about anticipation. I'm not standing on the sideline waiting for something to happen. I'm reading the play, positioning myself for the next moment, and tracking athletes through my lens before the action reaches them. When a midfielder winds up for a shot or a point guard drives the lane, I'm already there.

I shoot with fast lenses and high frame rates so I can freeze motion in any light. Early morning games, overcast afternoons, that harsh midday sun at Community Park: I adjust for all of it. The goal is always the same: sharp, powerful images that show the real intensity of the game.

Parents often tell me they had no idea their kid made that face during a play, or that their form looked that good on a throw. That's what action photography captures. The stuff you can't see in real time because you're cheering, or grabbing a snack, or watching a sibling.

What I Cover

I photograph all youth sports, but in Superior I most commonly shoot:

  • Soccer: Rec and club games at Superior Elementary fields and Community Park
  • Basketball: Games and tournaments at Community Park courts and school gyms
  • Lacrosse: Growing fast in this area, with games at Eldorado K-8 and nearby fields
  • Flag Football: Fall leagues at Superior Elementary and community fields
  • Track and Cross Country: Rock Creek Trail and the open space trails make great courses

I also cover multi-sport tournaments and special events. If your league, team, or club needs a photographer who knows how to capture the action, I'm your person.

Individual Athlete Sessions

Beyond game coverage, I do individual athlete portrait sessions for players who want standout photos for club tryouts, school programs, or just to celebrate a great season. We can shoot on the field, at Community Park, or even on the trails near Coalton for a more unique backdrop. These sessions are quick (30 to 45 minutes) and focused, and the results give your athlete something to be proud of.

Booking Sports Photography in Superior

For game and tournament coverage, I like to know the schedule at least a week in advance so I can plan my positioning and arrival. For individual sessions, a few days notice usually works unless it's peak fall season. I deliver edited galleries within 48 hours for games, because I know families want to share the photos while the excitement is still fresh.

Superior Elementary Fields

The main playing fields at Superior Elementary handle soccer, flag football, and lacrosse games throughout the school year. The fields face east-west, which means late afternoon games get great sidelight. Parking is along the school lot.

Eldorado K-8 Fields

Eldorado K-8 has well-maintained grass fields used for lacrosse, soccer, and general practice. The backdrop includes some open space views, and the light is good for morning games.

Community Park Courts and Fields

Community Park is the hub for basketball and multi-sport events. The courts are in good condition, and the open field areas handle overflow games and practices. The playground nearby is convenient for families with younger siblings.
