Superior Portrait & Headshot Photographer
Whether you need a professional headshot for LinkedIn or a portrait that actually captures who you are, I shoot in Superior locations that give you clean backgrounds, great light, and a natural feel.
Portrait and Headshot Photography in Superior
I shoot a lot of headshots and portraits for people who live and work in Superior. Many of them are professionals who work from home or run businesses out of Town Center and want updated photos that don't look like they were taken in a corporate studio. That's exactly what I do: natural light portraits that look like you, in places that feel real.
Superior has some genuinely good options for portrait work. The Town Center has clean, modern architecture with neutral tones and consistent light. Original Superior near Marshall Road has older buildings with texture and character. And the open space trails give me something most portrait photographers don't have access to: natural backdrops with mountain views, minutes from town.
Professional Headshots
A headshot needs to do one thing well: make you look like yourself on your best day. Not over-retouched, not fake-smiling, not standing in front of a wrinkled backdrop. I shoot headshots in natural light, usually outdoors or near large windows, because that's what makes skin look real and eyes look alive.
Superior Town Center is my go-to for professional headshots. The buildings have clean facades in neutral colors that work as natural backdrops. The light in the covered walkways is soft and flattering. And the whole area is quiet enough that we can work without pedestrian traffic constantly walking through the shot.
I also shoot headshots at businesses and home offices throughout Superior. If you have a space that represents your work, I'm happy to come to you and use your environment as the backdrop. This works especially well for entrepreneurs, consultants, and creatives who want their headshot to tell a story beyond just their face.
Personal Portraits
Portraits are different from headshots. A portrait session gives us more time, more variety, and more room to explore who you are beyond the professional version. We might start at Town Center and then drive five minutes to Coalton Trailhead for a completely different look. The Flatirons fill the western sky from there, and the open grassland gives me clean, dramatic compositions.
Original Superior is another spot I love for personal portraits. The older buildings near the Coal Creek intersection have a different texture than the newer parts of town. Stone, wood, and brick surfaces add warmth and character to portraits. It's a small area, but I can get a lot of variety there in a short walk.
For something more natural, the open space trails surrounding town give me portrait backdrops that feel like you're miles from civilization. Superior Open Space on the east side has rolling grassland with the mountains behind. Rock Creek Trail offers a shaded, creek-side feel with cottonwoods overhead. These locations work especially well for creative professionals, artists, and anyone who spends more time outdoors than in an office.
What a Session Looks Like
Headshot sessions run about 30 minutes. We shoot in one or two locations, I give you coaching on posture, expression, and angles, and we work through a variety of looks. You'll get 10 to 15 edited headshots to choose from.
Full portrait sessions run 60 to 90 minutes. We move through multiple locations, change up backgrounds and compositions, and create a wider range of images. These are ideal if you need photos for a website, social media content, a personal brand, or just want something beautiful for yourself.
Either way, I'll coach you through the entire session. Most people feel awkward in front of a camera at first, and that's completely normal. I know how to direct you so you look natural, and I keep the conversation going so you're not standing there thinking about what to do with your hands.
Who Books Portrait Sessions
My portrait and headshot clients in Superior include remote workers updating their LinkedIn, real estate agents who need fresh marketing photos, small business owners building a personal brand, high school seniors, and people going through life transitions who want to mark the moment. Whatever your reason, I'll make sure the photos feel authentic to who you are right now.

Superior Town Center
My top headshot location in Superior. Clean modern architecture with neutral-toned facades. Covered walkways provide soft, even light that flatters all skin tones. Quiet enough for focused portrait work. Central parking and easy access.
Original Superior
The older section of town near the Coal Creek and Marshall Road intersection. Stone, wood, and brick building surfaces add texture and warmth to portraits. Smaller and more intimate than Town Center. Works best for personal portraits and creative sessions.
Open Space Trails (Flatirons Views)
Superior Open Space and the Coalton Trailhead area offer dramatic natural backdrops with Flatirons views. Open grassland and wide skies create clean, striking compositions. Best at golden hour. Requires a short walk from the trailhead but the payoff is worth it.
Rock Creek Trail
Shaded creek-side trail through town. Cottonwood canopy provides dappled light and a lush green or golden (fall) backdrop. More intimate and natural than the open space options. Good for portraits that feel relaxed and organic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you shoot headshots in Superior?
Superior Town Center is my go-to for professional headshots because of the clean architecture and soft light in the covered walkways. I also shoot at client offices and homes throughout Superior, and at open space locations if you want a more natural backdrop.
What should I wear for a headshot session?
Solid colors work best. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, and bright white (which can wash out in natural light). Bring 2 to 3 outfit options so we have variety. For professional headshots, wear what you would wear to meet a new client. I send a detailed prep guide when you book.
How long does a headshot session take?
A focused headshot session runs about 30 minutes and delivers 10 to 15 edited images. A full portrait session runs 60 to 90 minutes with multiple locations and a wider variety of looks. I will help you figure out which one fits your needs.
Do you retouch headshot photos?
I do light retouching on every image: skin smoothing, blemish removal, and color correction. The goal is to make you look like yourself on a great day, not like a different person. I do not do heavy airbrushing or dramatic alterations unless specifically requested.
Can I use the headshots for both LinkedIn and my company website?
Yes. All images come with a personal use license that covers LinkedIn, social media, company websites, email signatures, and printed materials. If you need commercial licensing for advertising or publications, let me know and I can set that up.
