Youth Sports Photography in Louisville

Louisville has a serious youth sports scene. On any given Saturday, Memory Square Park and the Firehouse fields are packed with games, and the Louisville Recreation Center runs leagues through every season. I'm out there with my camera, right on the sidelines, shooting the action as it happens.

Louisville's Youth Sports Community

What I like about Louisville sports is the community behind it. These aren't just games. Parents show up early, siblings run around on the sidelines, coaches get into it. There's real energy at these fields, and that energy shows up in photos. A kid rounding third base at Memory Square Park with the whole bench on their feet behind them. A goalkeeper diving full stretch at the Firehouse fields. A basketball player at the Louisville Rec Center hitting a shot and looking back at their teammates. Those are the moments I'm there for.

How I Shoot Youth Sports

I use long lenses and fast shutter speeds to freeze the action. But the technical stuff is just the starting point. What matters is knowing where to stand, when to anticipate a play, and how to track an athlete through the chaos of a game. I've shot enough youth sports to know that the best photos often happen between plays. The handshake after a hard foul. The nervous face during warmups. The pile-on after a goal.

I typically shoot from the sidelines or behind the end zone/backstop, wherever I can get the cleanest angle without getting in the way. I know the light patterns at Louisville's main fields, so I position myself with the sun behind me or to the side whenever possible. Late afternoon games at Memory Square Park, for instance, get beautiful sidelight that separates the players from the background.

Sports I Cover

I shoot everything that moves:

  • Baseball and softball at Memory Square Park
  • Soccer and lacrosse at the Firehouse fields
  • Basketball and volleyball at Louisville Recreation Center
  • Football and flag football on Louisville's fall fields
  • Track, cross country, and any other sport where kids are competing

I also cover tournaments and multi-game days. If your team has a big tournament weekend, I can be there for the whole event and deliver a full gallery within a week.

What You Get

After the game or event, I edit the full gallery and deliver high-resolution images through an online gallery. Every player on the field gets covered. I don't just follow the ball. I watch the whole field and make sure every kid has moments to look back on. Parents can download, print, and share however they want. No watermarks on purchased images, no per-photo fees. You get the full set.

If you've got a player in Louisville's youth leagues and you want real action photos (not the stiff posed portrait against a pull-up banner), let's talk. I'm based in Boulder, about fifteen minutes away, and I'm at Louisville fields all the time.
