Broomfield Photography
Real moments from the fields, trails, and neighborhoods of Broomfield

Broomfield sits right in that sweet spot between Boulder and Denver, and I love shooting there. It has this interesting mix of open space trails, growing neighborhoods, and a sports culture that keeps me busy on weekends. From youth soccer tournaments at the Commons fields to golden hour family sessions at Josh's Pond, Broomfield gives me a lot to work with.

I'm based in Boulder, so Broomfield is a quick drive down US-36. I know the parks, the fields, and the quiet spots that most people walk right past. If you're looking for a photographer who actually knows where the good light hits in Broomfield, let's talk.

Why I Love Shooting in Broomfield
Here's what I tell people about Broomfield: it punches above its weight for photography locations. The city sits at this perfect elevation where you get Flatirons views to the west and wide-open prairie sky to the east. That matters for photography because the light here is different depending on which direction you're facing, and I use that constantly.
Broomfield County Commons Park is one of my favorite multi-use spots. Families, sports, corporate events. The park has enough variety that I can shoot a family session at the pond and a youth soccer tournament on the fields in the same afternoon. Josh's Pond is another one I keep coming back to. The reflection off the water during golden hour creates this warm, soft light that makes everything look incredible without any extra effort on my end.
The Broomfield Photography Scene
Broomfield has grown fast over the last decade, and the photography needs have grown with it. You've got the Interlocken business campus where tech companies need professional headshots and brand photography. Flatiron Crossing and the Arista district bring in small businesses that need marketing visuals. And the neighborhoods, places like Broadlands, Anthem, and Wildgrass, are full of families who want something better than a phone snapshot.
I shoot youth sports all over Broomfield. The soccer complex near Midway Boulevard stays packed from spring through fall, and the baseball and softball fields at Community Park get serious use during tournament season. These parents invest a lot of time and money in their kids' sports, and they deserve photos that actually show what those Saturday mornings look like.
Outdoor Locations Worth Knowing
Broomfield's open space system is underrated. Most people think of Boulder or Golden for outdoor photography, but Broomfield has trails that give you mountain views without the crowds. The trail network around McKay Lake is one I recommend for engagement sessions and family shoots. You get water, grassland, and mountain backdrop all in one spot.
Lac Amora in the Broadlands neighborhood is another hidden gem. It's quieter than the bigger parks, and the surrounding paths give you variety without having to drive between locations. Brunner Farm Park works well for fall sessions when the trees start turning. The cottonwoods along the creek put on a good show in late September and early October.
Getting the Best Out of Broomfield Light
Colorado light is strong, and Broomfield's elevation (around 5,400 feet) means the sun hits harder than you might expect. I schedule most portrait and family sessions for the last two hours before sunset. In summer, that means starting around 6:30 PM. In winter, we're looking at 3:30 or 4:00 PM starts.
For sports photography, I don't get to choose the time. But I've shot enough games at the Commons fields and the soccer complex to know where the shadows fall and how to position myself for the best angles at any time of day. That kind of location knowledge makes a real difference in the final images.
Working With a Boulder-Based Photographer
My studio is in Boulder, but Broomfield is one of my most-traveled cities. The drive along US-36 takes about 20 minutes, and I'm out there multiple times a week during sports season. I don't charge travel fees for Broomfield sessions. You get the same rates, the same turnaround, and the same attention as my Boulder clients. If you're in Broomfield and need a photographer who actually knows the area, reach out. I'd love to hear what you're planning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge extra to travel to Broomfield from Boulder?
No. Broomfield is a quick 20-minute drive from my Boulder studio on US-36, and I'm out there regularly for sports and family sessions. There's no travel fee for Broomfield bookings.
What are the best parks in Broomfield for family photos?
Josh's Pond is my top pick for the water reflections during golden hour. Brunner Farm Park is great in fall when the cottonwoods turn. Lac Amora in Broadlands offers a quieter setting with nice paths and scenery. Community Park works well too, especially if you want open green space with mountain views.
Can you shoot youth sports in Broomfield on weekends?
Absolutely. I shoot at the Broomfield Commons fields, the soccer complex near Midway, and the baseball and softball diamonds at Community Park. I know where to set up for the best angles at each location. Weekend tournaments are some of my busiest days.
What time of year is best for outdoor photos in Broomfield?
Late September through mid-October gives you fall colors along the creek paths and at Brunner Farm Park. Late May through June is another favorite for the green grass and wildflowers. Summer works great too, but I schedule sessions for evening to avoid the harsh midday sun at altitude.
Do you work with Broomfield businesses at the Interlocken campus?
Yes. I do professional headshots, team photos, and brand photography for companies at Interlocken and throughout the Flatiron Crossing corridor. I can shoot on-site at your office or at outdoor locations nearby for a more relaxed look.
